To all Hector's friends,
Hector passed away on January 1, 2008 in Anchorage, AK.
I've been getting a lot of inquiries on what happened to Hector...
As a few know Hector was a fisherman (King Crab, Opi are a few that I know) in Alaska. He was featured in several "Deadliest Catch" episodes on the Discovery Channel. His passing came suddenly - he had a severe stroke on Christmas day but we didn't get word until the 26th. And because he didn't have the proper care immediately after the stroke, he was declared brain dead. He was on life support for several days before his son had to make the decision to take him off. It took the entire month (January) to finely have a proper burial. This was hardest on my mom and my oldest sister as they went to Alaska to be there with him. They were in denial and kept saying that he was responding when in reality (and medically) he was in a state of vegetation.
God protected Hector from harm while in Alaska and from the near deaths that he came close to in the past. He has always been the Hector that every knows... No Fear. He also had a soft spot. He was always willing to help people as best he can. Even in death, he has helped many. As he was an organ donor, we've received several letters from Donor Agencies to let us know how many people benefited from his organs. He saved several lives; he restored people's eye sight; he gave others the chance to walk again; he alleviated a burn victim's pain, and the list goes on.
Please if you have pictures, stories of my brother post them here or visit the Guest Book for Hector Javier Urias - OC Register's obituary legacy online site.

Hi Gaby, Art and family,
We went to school together as well were neighbors, I lived on Highland Street, your family on the corner of Shelton. I fondly remember Hector passing by our house as he always walked his pitbull(s). Not only did he have a gorgeous smile, he was the nicest guy ever and really cared of his dogs. xxxoo
